From the 1st of July, we will start with 3 new ESC (European Solidarity Corps) volunteers at OCC Spain Barcelona, who will work in different projects at our organisation to support the work of our project managers. Applications are open so have a look at the possibilities and apply now!


Why ESC with us?

An ESC at OCC will…

  • Get to know how a nonprofit organisation works
  • Learn how to work in multicultural environments with people from all over the world
  • Learn how to work with advanced project management tools such as Slack, Airtable, Trello, GitBook and more

And the ESC period includes…

  • Travel costs (up to the limits established in Erasmus+ Guide distance calculator)
  • Accommodation – you will share a flat in Barcelona with other volunteers. It will be fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine, etc). It is important to be ready to share your bedroom with another volunteer of the same sex/gender
  • Monthly food + pocket money: approximately €280  
  • Insurance (CIGNA for ESC)
  • Language courses (classroom or online, Catalan, Spanish and/or Arabic)

General requirements

For each of the below positions, it’s important that:

  • You are a EU citizen or a migrant/refugee with legal residence + work permit in Spain or any other EU country
  • You are under 30 (as ESC is a youth-funded project by the EU)
  • You have no problems with sharing an apartment with other international volunteers

ESC position 1

Language Teacher Spanish/English


  • Give four classes a week in our Barcelona Language Lab, in English and Spanish
  • Prepare the content for our Spanish language course
  • Support the management and promotion of the language exchange events
  • Support the Language Lab team with administrative tasks and managing our online community
  • Support our Youth for All Housing Project in the countryside of Barcelona by teaching young migrants Spanish


  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Highly motivated
  • Intercultural competences
  • Some teaching experience is an advantage
  • A passion for language in general

ESC position 2

Fundraising & Communications Assistant


  • Support the fundraising manager with writing project proposals for public and private grants in English, Spanish or Catalan
  • Support the communications manager with posts on social media
  • Support the communications manager with creating the monthly newsletter
  • Support the communications manager with posts for the blog on the different websites
  • Creation of specific content on migration current affairs and news for all communication channels
  • Produce and edit visual materials through Canva or Photoshop (photo, video and graphic images)
  • Daily interaction with partners and followers on social media
  • Attend events in order to take pictures and videos of our activities


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience or interest in photography, graphic design and related software (Photoshop, in-design, etc.) will be a plus
  • Strong interest in working in the nonprofit/social sector and basic to advanced knowledge of the migration context of Europe. Higher education in social sciences will be considered a plus.
  • Able to speak and write in English, Spanish (strongly preferred). Knowledge of catalan will be considered a plus.
  • Easy-going and loving an intercultural environment
  • A motivated, sociable, proactive, open-minded, tolerant, creative and self-reliant person

ESC position 3

CodeWomen Assistant


  • Supporting and facilitating the organisation of CodeWomen events and coding sessions as member of the organising team
  • Participating in all CodeWomen events and meetings in person, with as main responsibility the welcoming and registering of participants
  • Ensuring attendance of sufficient volunteers for Coding with Coaches sessions, and for events with a workshop: Doodle invites, Slack reminders and follow-up
  • Preparing Kahoot quizzes for the Learning & Networking events
  • Taking care of food & drinks for events that are hosted at coding schools
  • Liaising with hosting partners (coding schools, companies) where needed
  • Posting and reposting about CodeWomen on social media


  • Enthusiastic and committed about achieving more diversity in the tech sector
  • People person, happy to help others, comfortable with reaching out to strangers and network
  • Good command of English, Spanish is a great advantage
  • (Volunteer) experience with organisation of  events
  • Able to manage deadlines, plan, and anticipate problems
  • Comfortable with software tools and interested in learning to use new systems and tools like Slack and Notion
  • Some writing skills (e.g. to produce the Kahoot quiz)
  • Interest in photography or willingness to practise
