In this project, 6 young people from diverse backgrounds joined OCC as volunteers: 3 young people from Europe and three young people with fewer opportunities (cultural differences: related to immigrants or refugees or descendants of immigrant or refugee families; people belonging to a national or ethnic minority) who are already in Spain in a legal situation. It was the first time that we will welcome refugees who were already in the country. That was one unique experience and that showed us very positive results as the volunteers facilitated the development of our projects with their personal initiatives and their intercultural potential.

Project PEER2PEER
- Barcelona, Spain
- Project Code: 2019-3-ES02-ESC11-014052
- Start date: 01/05/2020
End date: 31/07/2021 - Nr. of volunteers: 6
In this project, six young volunteers participate in OCC’s activities over an extended period of time. These volunteers share tasks and contribute to the mission of the organization with their collaboration. The group is mixed both in terms of life experience and skills, as well as ethnic and social background and access to opportunities. Volunteers are engaged in projects focused on education, art, languages, and raising awareness, each learning from each other along the way. The diversity of their lived experiences enabled them to create space for intercultural exchange and an open attitude towards different cultures and communities. This is beneficial on a personal level for each volunteer and OCC team member, at the local level for the community in Barcelona, as well as more globally thanks to the wide reach of our projects and online presence.
